BARNZ is pleased that Auckland Airport has agreed to reduce its prices, starting from 1 July 2019.

The Airport has sent BARNZ the new price schedule, showing the “discounts” that will be applied. This is here and the details are on page 2.  You will see that:

• The international passenger charges are being discounted by 63 cents per passenger for the year starting 1 July 2019, 64 cents per passenger for the year starting 1 July 2020 and 66 cents per passenger for the year starting 1 July 2021
• The landing charges are being discounted by 59 cents per tonne for the year starting 1 July 2019 and 60 cents per tonne after 1 July 2020
• No other Auckland Airport charges are changing.

We estimate the total discount for international airlines amounts to around $1 per passenger in each year (the discount for domestic and regional services is lower).

We think this is a pretty good result. We didn’t get all of the price discount we wanted, but we got most of it ($41m over three years in lower charges) and the airport has listened to us and the regulator and make a significant price change.
